Embracing Evolution Together: A Journey of Growth and Accountability

Thank you.

Not just for reading this but for being my partner in this journey. I need you for that, and here’s what I mean.

For me, our purpose has always been about human evolution, and that is not an individual thing. Evolution has been the clearest concept in my life since I can remember. I may not have had that word in my early vocabulary, but I’ve generally assumed we are all here for that one reason and each of us has a duty to that in how we live our lives.

Working with my colleagues at Momentum is a natural extension of that path, and I notice this common thread among us. It’s one of those, “we can’t do this” things and we also can’t do it by ourselves.

So, on the heels of our annual summit, I dedicate this entry to you, our clients, and all those who participate in this work. Our summit is a gathering of clients and friends so that we may show off what we do and appreciate those who work with us at the same time. It’s intended to be informative and fun, but it’s also our effort to expand our community because our work requires community on a large scale. With each of our clients, we attempt to grow away from our defaults and survival mechanisms and into more productive behaviors. That process is called transformation, and to sustain it requires not just effort and practice, but accountability partners.

A musician needs an audience

A healer needs a patient.

A swimmer needs water.

We need you.

We coaches and consultants are inherently self-serving folks like anyone else out there just trying to survive and get by. We are not immune to shortcuts, comforts, and low-hanging fruit. Our clients serve as our accountability structure. If we don’t have you as our client, we have no one to really serve and no expectations outside of ourselves to live up to. It’s not about impressing or appealing to anyone. It’s about “using” each other to grow and evolve.

Humanity has done a great job at making modern life easier and more comfortable. I can go to my pocket and get more information, entertainment, and passive consumption than a whole nation of jokers and jesters could provide 200 years ago. One could argue it’s this passivity that degrades evolution, but it’s the work of transformation that accelerates it. And it requires a combination of clientele and coaching to keep that evolution going.

In doing the work, we get to not only take our own coaching but get to live in an accountable environment as well. It’s this community that holds the space of integrity for us as individuals.

So, thank you.
