Halfway Through 2025: A Gentle Nudge

How’s your 2025 shaping up so far? Back in January, we talked about a thought-provoking idea I came across from Matthew McConaughey (@officiallymcconaughey): write a list of 10 things you want for yourself, from yourself, and then tuck it away. Maybe you’ve forgotten about it (on purpose!), or maybe you’ve been carrying some of those intentions quietly in the back of your mind.

One of my favorite outcomes from my list has been spending more time with our girls, Christa Marie and Caitlyn Rose. The photo above was taken at The White Horse Saloon in Austin, Texas — a moment that reminds me what matters most: being with family. I feel blessed that our daughters have become our best friends, and even more so, that they’ve become the dearest of friends with each other.

This year also brought another pretty cool milestone, our 39th wedding anniversary. I’m deeply grateful for the journey we are experiencing and for the life we’ve built together.

Of course, not everything on my list has unfolded exactly as I pictured. Some dreams are still in progress, a few have shifted completely, and others I’ve consciously let go of. But I’ve learned that it’s in those unplanned turns — the messy middle — where the most meaningful growth often happens.

We’re currently in Vancouver working with an executive leadership finance team. We just wrapped up the first of three days together, and I am fully present to why we do what we do. We are blessed to be here, engaging in the business of being human. I’m inspired by the fabulous folks we get to work with, their willingness to share their challenges and their wins with each other along the way.

This is your gentle nudge to check in with yourself. Are there small shifts you’ve noticed? Old habits you’ve released? New ones starting to stick? Remember, this isn’t about perfection or pressure. It’s about noticing where you are, appreciating the progress, and letting the rest unfold.  And as Mathew would say, alright, alright, alright…

With love,
Marlene
