When You Can’t Think of Anything to Say, Say “Thanks.”

This week I had a hard time figuring out what I wanted to write about. Recently, my life has been the most on-purpose it ever has so when I sat down to write this blog and had nothing to say I was quite confused and frustrated.

I’ve been living the dream lately, so how is it possible I don’t have anything to share?!?

That’s what the dialogue in my head sounded like. Sometimes when we are the most on-purpose, (feeling like we are on track to fulfill our destinies) we have the least to talk about because our actions already say it. So instead of writing about myself, I’m going to acknowledge each member of the Momentum team:

Marlene Clark

The saying, “I got it from my mama,” perfectly captures my dynamic with Marlene. Thank you, Mom, for laying the groundwork and foundation of this work over the last 30 years. I literally could not be who I am or do what I do without all you have done before me. Thank you for walking the path so I could run.

Craig Clark

Craig taught me how to play, trust and own all parts of myself. Thank you, Dad, for the colossal amounts of faith you’ve instilled in me over my lifetime. When I was at my lowest, your assurance that I would rise again is what kept me going. You will always be my favorite partner in crime.

Martha Lynn Mangum

Martha Lynn may not be my mama, but she played that role for me many times throughout my childhood. Thank you for your safety and warmth. You have a remarkable way of holding people accountable to their greatness without judgment. Your infinite threshold for unconditional love is a gift to us all.

April Garner

In the short time I’ve known April, she has never been anything short of a total rockstar. Thank you for always providing me with the support I need in the business. You help me look my best when it comes to writing, and you encourage me to put my most authentic self out there.

Tracey Nelson

Over the past few months, I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with Tracey. Thank you for always holding me accountable and delivering incredibly constructive feedback. I am inspired by your commitment to accountability for yourself and others. It has been a joy to connect deeper with you recently.

Brett Morris

Brett’s passion for new ideas and initiatives reminds me to never stop creating. Thank you for pushing us to go the extra mile and add more value. Your natural inclination to go above and beyond is one of my favorite things about you.

I am grateful I was born into this family business. Even though the foundations of this work are in my blood, I would still choose this team and this purpose a hundred times over. Thank you, Momentum Consulting, for you have truly shown what it means to accelerate human performance.

Fundamental #2: LISTEN GENEROUSLY

Give others your full attention, be present and engaged and set aside the internal conversation in your head as best you can.  Let go of your need to agree, disagree, or judge.  Be empathetic and listen for the needs of others. Listen with curiosity and make sure you get all the facts, separating facts from interpretations.
